Kozuka- Kaga School

Kaga School.   Shakudo base with orange blossoms done in hira-zogan inlay of gold, silver and shakudo.   In typical fashion,  the back is unsigned  (mumei) with a kebori carved branch and fan.  Size 97 x 15 x 5mm description about this item

Kozuka of tiger crossing river with cub

Shibuichi base metal with gold iron.  Inspired by an ancient Chinese legend. It was believed that, if a mother tiger gave birth to three cubs, one was always a leopard (hyo). The mother has to be careful when crossing a river not to leave the ferocious 'hyo' alone at any point with the other two cubs. The puzzle lies in how she manages to transport all three cubs safely across the river, which requires multiple crossings.

NBTHK Hozon Papered to Kyoto Metal worker (Kyou-kanagushi).  Beautiful inlaid bamboo, rope and carved plant.  It is made of shakudo , polished ground, sukidashi-ta-kabori (raised-edge carving), kebori (hair carving), and gold-colored painting.
