Fuchi and Kashira are the end caps of the handle (tsuka). Often matching or of a similar theme. However, sometimes the kashira (at end of the Tsuka) can be a plain design made from horn. Signatures are often on the fuchi (end that goes toward tsuba or saya).
Mino School. 16th or 17th century. Has matching tsuba and kozuka.
Fuchi Kashira of mantis and autumn flowers. Gold and silver overlays. Mito or Mino school.

Kaga School. Fuchi only. Gold and silver metal inlays
Kashira only. Unknown school. mantis and butterfly.
Fuchi Kashira Reproduction. fake nanako (punch marks). Cast item. Painted gold & silver to simulate inlays and overlays.
