Pray for the Preying Mantis

Mantises are often depicted with other insects like the cicada, grasshopper and beetle. These other insects can be considered mantis food. The mantis as predator eating its food is the circle of life. This in turn represents immortality, as food = sustenance. Sustenance = life. The Continuation of life = immortality (some deductive reasoning from college). Therefore like the symbolism of autumn, we can see the circle of life/immortality in these depictions.
