At Pray for the Preying Mantis, I am passionate about Japanese antique sword furniture & decor with the Preying Mantis (Kamakiri) theme. My love for Japanese antiques began many years ago when I started collecting nihonto (samurai swords). I soon found myself drawn to the history, meaning & craftsmanship behind each piece, and decided to turn my collection into focusing on the mantis theme. Part of the collection goal is to find pieces from all different time periods & schools with the mantis design. This website is divided into 2 main sections: Mythology of the Mantis & individual examples. My collection has grown with the help of many individuals linking examples.
